Margaritaville to Open in Mall of America

October 7th, 2015

Jimmy Buffett will open a Margaritaville restaurant in the largest mall in the United States:

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant chain has signed a lease at Mall of America and plans to open this spring.

The 9,000-square-foot restaurant will serve — you guessed it, margaritas — but also the Cheeseburger in Paradise (named after the song of the same name), Volcano nachos (also named after a song), buttermilk fried chicken and drunken shrimp skillets.

The Mall of America restaurant will be on the east wing’s third floor, near Crayola’s new attraction and store and the relocated Rainforest Cafe.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville has 22 restaurants open across the world and a few more coming soon.

New Album from Mac McAnally

September 25th, 2015

Mac McAnally has a new album out today entitled AKA Nobody.

Gulflive.com has an article on Mac and the new album:

“Music still lights me up like a light bulb,” McAnally told countryweekly.com, recently. “I wake up thinking about it and I go to sleep thinking about it and I write songs in the middle of the night. If I am two lines short in a song, I lie down and know that I will have them by the time I wake up in the morning. It’s no superpower or anything, but it does give me the confidence that my conscious and my subconscious are in line with one another, because we definitely co-write all the time.”

And even in the midst of creating a prodigious body of behind-the-scenes work, McAnally has continued to make his own music. All told, he has recorded 11 albums, including his latest.

On “AKA Nobody” he wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs. He co-wrote “Coast of Carolina” with Buffett, which Buffett recorded a few years ago, and “Island Rain” with Chesney. Also, “Last but not Least” was originally recorded by the Zac Brown Band several years back.

He also teamed up with legendary artists such as Sonny Landreth, Chris Stapleton and Al Anderson among others for the tracks on the album. The one song on the album that he didn’t write, “Mississippi Your on My Mind”, was penned by the late, great Jessie Winchester, yet another long-time Mississippian.

“I’m grateful for everything that I have been fortunate enough to experience in my life,” McAnally, who is currently in Paris, France with Buffett and the rest of the Coral Reefers, added. “I’m very proud of both the work and that my fans continue to follow my little career. Small though it may be, it’s one of the biggest blessings ever. In the past 25 years people have been gracious enough to ask me to do stuff, and I’ve never been able to say no. I enjoy not being able to say no.”

The new 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will have a “soft opening” Tuesday, welcoming a 150-person corporate group and its first leisure customers, General Manager Cate Farmer said Monday.

More people will begin arriving Oct. 1, the resort’s official opening day, Farmer said. Before then, walk-in reservations may be accepted if rooms are available.

The announcement, a long-held secret, came during a media tour of the $175 million resort, which includes 178 king rooms, 155 queen rooms and 14 suites, along with the Jimmy Buffett Presidential Suite and the Coral Reefer Suite, which will occupy the penthouse level.

Rates for Oct. 1 start at $206.10 for a king room with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway, purchased in advance, according to the resort’s website. A king room with an ocean view goes for $224.10. Regular rates begin at $259 a night.

A $15 daily resort fee also applies, covering free Wi-Fi, use of the fitness center, two beach chairs and umbrella, bottled water, in-room coffee and local phone calls.
