Buffett Shoots Music Video for New Song

Jimmy Buffett spent Friday shooting a music video for the song “Bama Breeze” that is expected to be the first release from his new album “Party At The End Of The World”, slated for release in October.

Residents and officials were initially taken aback by the fact that the video and song, “Bama Breeze” (expected to be the first release from Buffett’s new album, due out in October), dealt with the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in 2004, with the wrecked Fire Dog standing in for the Flora-Bama bar, a famous establishment located smack-dab on the Alabama-Florida state line. But ultimately the consensus seemed to be that, no matter the reason, Jimmy Buffett in Bay St. Louis is still Jimmy Buffett is Bay St. Louis.

Around 12:30 p.m., after a lunch break, Buffett left his air-conditioned motor home at the end of Main Street and began making his way down the block to the Fire Dog to resume shooting.

Along the way, he paused briefly to greet fans and exchange a few words.

On hand, dressed in a tie-dyed shirt and straw hat – and with his wife, his three children, a dozen college church interns/volunteers and a cold 12-pack of Corona (complete with limes) in tow – was the Rev. Jean Larroux, of Lagniappe Presbyterian Church.

Cubs Website Covering ‘Live At Wrigley DVD’

The Official MLB website for the Chicago Cubs has an article on the Live at Wrigley DVD entitled “Parrotheads Rejoice.”

“You always find time for baseball,” Buffett said recently in an exclusive interview with MLB.com. “I think probably a day at the park with my dad was one of the great influences on me in trying to get a job where I could get a balance of work and play time. And it was lucky enough that it worked out that way.”

Luckily for Parrotheads, Jimmy Buffett — Live At Wrigley Field has it all covered. The two nights of concerts at the 92-year-old ivy-covered ballpark marked the first concerts in the yard’s well-documented history.

And to borrow a phrase from the most famous Cub in history, “Mr. Cub” Ernie Banks, “Let’s play two.”

The double-disc set is approximately 2 hours, 45 minutes long and contains 26 songs, plus bonus footage and some surprises.

Vote for the South Carolina License Plate Design

“Tell WIS which Parrothead plate you prefer”

Jimmy Buffett ‘phans’ are paying up to help Alzheimer research efforts.

The South Carolina President’s Council recently auctioned off the first 10 “parrothead” license plates. The auction raised $3,800 for the state Alzheimer’s associations.

A final design for the plates hasn’t been approved yet, the choices being considered are pictured below. Organizers will make the final decision on the design used.

Billboard Article on Live at Wrigley DVD

Billboard has an article on Buffett’s Live at Wrigley DVD which comes out August 1st.

Less than a year after releasing the CD/DVD “Live at Fenway Park,” Jimmy Buffett will release a two-DVD set chronicling a stop at baseball’s other pre-eminent shrine: Chicago’s Wrigley Field. “Live at Wrigley Field” will arrive Aug. 1 via Buffett’s own Mailboat label.

The DVDs will contain 26 songs from Buffett’s two-day doubleheader at the 92-year-old home of the Cubs, culled from two September 2005 shows. The set includes covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days” and Steve Goodman’s “City of New Orleans,” performed by Buffett and guitarist Mac McAnally from the bleachers, as well as ukelele virtuoso Jake Shimabakuro’s pre-show version of the national anthem.

Also included are backstage extras, footage of construction of the centerfield stage and a handful of bonus features. The release marks the first time a full-length Buffett concert has been available on DVD.
