New DVD – “Scenes You Know By Heart”

May 18th, 2008

Jimmy Buffett is releasing a new DVD on June 3rd entitled “Scenes You Know By Heart”.

From Mailboat Records:

Jimmy’s CD, Songs You Know By Heart, came out in 1985, and has become one of his most popular releases. Jimmy chose the best live performances of those songs from his concerts all over the world for this unique DVD. Says Jimmy, “If you think about it, looking at the show on video is really the only way I get to see what you see. I have spent many enjoyable hours watching you and us have fun and have put together these scenes you know by heart.”

In addition to the 13 songs (listed below) from Scenes You Know By Heart, there are two bonus cuts, “Hey Good Lookin” and “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere”. In the packaging is a beautiful 12-page booklet with new photos in which Jimmy explains how the footage was chosen and provides “a few thoughts about what we do, and what we play that you might not be aware of.”

Buffett In Rolling Stone’s Summer Tour Guide

May 17th, 2008

Jimmy Buffett made it into Rolling Stone’s 2008 Summer Tour Guide:

“I have no problem playing ‘Margaritaville’ for the 700,000th time,” says Buffett, who’s hewing to tradition by breaking out his “Big Eight” hits. “There are some songs you gotta do or get killed.” But he is also bringing out obscurities like 1988’s “Homemade Music,” and in August he’ll do a stripped-down appearance at the Newport Folk Festival. “I’m gonna be a folkie again,” says Buffett.

Also on Rolling Stone you can watch videos from Live in Anguilla. Check it out here.

Article With Video Of Panama City M’Ville Opening

March 6th, 2008

Jimmy Buffett’s latest Margaritaville opened yesterday in Panama City, Florida, and the Panama City News Herald has an article on it, along with a video that includes interviews with patrons and the store manager Mark Whitmer:

Jimmy Buffett hasn’t arrived yet, but spring breakers, families and other parrotheads attended the opening of Buffett’s Margaritaville in Pier Park on Wednesday.

Balloon hats rested comfortably on top of several patrons’ noggins, while bartenders served up interestingly named drinks, including Why Don’t We Get Drunk & …, Last Mango in Paris and Off to See the Lizard.

Manager Mike Whitmer said the restaurant’s live entertainment and atmosphere will be competing for the Spring Break dollar.
