One Particular Harbour Marina and Homes Coming to Bradenton

June 13th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett is branching out even further with his Margaritaville brand by adding a One Particular Harbour marina and community in Bradenton, Florida.

Minto Communities and Margaritaville Holdings today announced the continuation of their partnership with the development of a new marina and 132 luxury residences at Harbour Isle in Bradenton, Florida. Minto’s 220-acre private island community is located on Anna Maria Sound, directly across from Anna Maria Island, which has been named by USA Today as one of the 10 best “secret” beaches in Florida.

“We look forward to bringing Margaritaville’s fun, escapism and casual-luxe lifestyle to Harbour Isle, a community already known for its charming seaside appeal,” said John Cohlan, chief executive officer of Margaritaville. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Minto to include luxury residences at that one particular harbour in Bradenton, Florida.”

Featuring Margaritaville’s relaxed, coastal-inspired design, the One Particular Harbour marina will be located adjacent to 132 luxury residences. The marina will include 55 wet slips and 128 dry slips, ships store, and up to 30,000 square feet of commercial space with restaurants, entertainment and shops. State-of-the-art aspects will feature floating boat docks and an enclosed boat storage facility capable of supporting vessels up to 42 feet in length. Construction on the marina has begun and is slated for completion in spring 2018.

“The Marina Walk residences on One Particular Harbour will provide owners with walkable access to boating, dining and entertainment on Florida’s last private island in one of the most iconic Gulf Coast settings,” said William Bullock, senior vice president of Minto Communities. ”There is no other place like it.”

Another Latitude Margaritaville Retirement Community to be Built

May 26th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett is developing another 55+ Latitude Margaritaville community, this time in Hilton Head, SC. The first community announced was in Daytona Beach, FL.

Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head in South Carolina will feature 3,000-plus homes with a wide range of home designs and floor plans starting in the low $200’s.

Those “55 and better” will be able to move into this paradise where the party never stops and ‘growing older, but not up’ is encouraged by the end of next year. Development will begin immediately with a sales center set to open early-2018. Furnished models are projected to be ready by mid-2018.

The community, which will be influenced by the spectacular South Carolina setting and charming classic coastal architecture, will sit on 2,739 acres and include a 72-acre site for a 290,000-square foot Margaritaville-inspired festive retail center. Located on Highway 278, two-and-a-half miles east of I-95 in the city of Hardeeville, South Carolina, this second location is close to the historic cities of Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC.

Cleveland Margaritaville Opening Delayed

April 27th, 2017

First announced a year ago, and originally scheduled to open in late 2016, the Margaritaville restaurant in Cleveland has delayed its opening again.

The opening of Cleveland’s hotly anticipated Margaritaville restaurant on Front Avenue in the Flats has been delayed until summer.

When the initial announcement of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville coming to Cleveland was made last May, the restaurant was slated to open in late 2016. By October, however, that date was pushed back until spring 2017.

While officials connected with the project said the restaurant will debut this summer, they did not provide any official date.

Margaritaville’s menu features foods like coconut shrimp, seafood macaroni and cheese, fish tacos, steak, grilled chicken and burgers. Yes, there’s even a “Cheeseburger in Paradise” complete with lettuce, tomato, Heinz 57 and French-fried potatoes — just like Buffett’s song suggests.

Once the location opens, it will be the only Margaritaville in the state of Ohio after the Cincinnati location recently closed.

Margaritaville Cincinnati to Close

April 11th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant in Cincinnati will close its doors after four years of operation, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville inside the casino will close on April 23, according to a tweet from its main account. The casino said a new concept will be taking its place but did not offer specifics.

“Jack and the Jimmy Buffett-themed restaurant have enjoyed a four-year partnership and are mutually grateful for the opportunity to have worked together,” Senior Vice President and General Manager Chad Barnhill said in an email. “Jack Entertainment looks forward to announcing our exciting new concept for the space soon.”

A spokeswoman said the casino is still weighing options on what will take Margaritaville’s place.

“We’ve had a really great partnership with them for four years, but it was a business decision,” Gayane Makaryan told me.

Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville was one of the original restaurants to open in the casino, which was originally called Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati, along with Jack Binion’s Steak, Spread Buffet and Bobby’s Burger Palace. Of those, only Bobby’s Burger Palace still remains in operation.

Buffett to Open Chain of Margaritaville Funeral Homes

April 1st, 2017

Jimmy Buffett recently announced plans for a 55-and-older retirement community in Daytona Beach called Latitude Margaritaville. And with another new addition to his business empire unveiled today, Buffett is inching closer to a full cradle-to-the-grave parrothead experience:

Want to live and die (literally) in 3/4 time? Soon you’ll be able to at a Margaritaville Funeral Home. Jimmy Buffett’s iconic brand will delve into the funeral business beginning next year in Florida, with plans to expand nationwide in the coming years.

“Bringing the parrothead lifestyle to end-of-life services is a natural progression for the Margaritaville brand,” said Archie Priestly, CEO of Margaritaville Holdings. “We are excited to bring to the funeral experience the fun and escapism that Margaritaville has to offer.”

The newest Buffett venture will offer many unique products and services. The “Volcano Memorial Experience” will shoot your loved one’s ashes into the air from a small model volcano. “The Night [insert Grandpa, Dad, etc] Painted The Sky” fireworks package will place the cremation ashes into a firework to be shot off at a memorial service.

Margaritaville Funeral Homes will also offer a blown glass package, where glassblowing artisans create shot glasses and margarita glasses using your loved one’s ashes. Each purchase of the Margaritaville Blown Glass package includes an extra glass that will be put into circulation at one of the many Margaritaville restaurants.

Each location will have an in-house Buffett tribute band available to play your loved one’s favorite Jimmy songs, albeit slightly modified versions to fit the occasion. Examples include “We Are The People Our Parents Left Behind,” “I Heard I Was No Longer In Town,” “Wonder Why I Never Came Home,” “I Used to Have Mama One Time,” and “A Pirate Looks at St. Peter.”

Daytona Beach resident Justin Dantz looks forward to the services offered by Buffett’s newest venture: “I usually don’t get too excited about things,” he said. “In fact I can be quite a curmudgeon sometimes. But man I can’t wait ’til the day I get laid down in the Havana Eternal Daydreamin’ premium casket!” Mr. Dantz then proceeded to yell profanities at a nearby cloud for momentarily blocking the sun.

The first Margaritaville Funeral Home location will open in 2018 across the street from the Latitude Margaritaville retirement community.
