Landshark Bar & Grill Coming to Branson

September 25th, 2018

Well he’s not building a theater in Branson just yet, but Jimmy Buffett is bringing a LandShark Bar & Grill to Branson Landing in Branson, Missouri later this year:

The Branson Landing posted to Facebook Monday an image of the
LandShark Bar and Grill that will open in late 2018. It will replace Texas Land and Cattle in the town square part of the shopping and dining area.

LandShark is inspired by the great “beach joints” that once dotted the Atlantic coast. The menu is American beach food with a fresh coastal twist. The restaurant is under the Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville umbrella. You will find Jimmy Buffett-inspired items.

According to Page Six, Jimmy Buffett made a surprise appearance at the Hamptons Surf Lodge over the weekend:

Summer in the Hamptons is still going for island rocker Jimmy Buffett — who surprised guests at Surf Lodge last weekend by getting onstage during a Wyclef Jean gig.

Buffett performed “Margaritaville,” changing the lyrics to center on Montauk, with Jean on bongos.

Buffett also referenced hotspot owner Jayma Cardoso by shouting, “Those Brazilian women gave me too much tequila!”

Buffett Licensing “Coral Reefer” for Medical Marijuana Venture

September 11th, 2018

An article in Fortune details Jimmy Buffett’s latest venture: licensing the use of “Coral Reefer” to a medical marijuana company.

Jimmy Buffett has been playing with the Coral Reefer Band for well over four decades now, so it’s less than surprising to see the veteran singer-songwriter finally getting into the weed business.

The “Margaritaville” singer will license the “Coral Reefer” brand to Surterra, a big medical marijuana company whose board has since last month been chaired by William “Beau” Wrigley, Jr.—the former CEO of the Wrigley confectionery firm.

Georgia-based Surterra is currently licensed in Florida and Texas, and plans to build out cultivation space in the former state while conducting research trials on cannabinoid treatment for issues such as pain and post-traumatic stress disorder. The company has raised more than $100 million in the last few years, most recently in a $65 million round last month that was led by Wrigley’s Wychwood Asset Management.
