Margaritaville Rum Being Distributed

Announced last Spring, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Rum is being sent to wholesalers for distribution. If it’s not already in stores, it will be soon.

The rum, which will come in four flavors (Coconut, Spiced, Silver, and Dark), is already being served in Margaritaville Cafes.

The official website is up at www.margaritavillerum.com, but there is no content yet.

Mac McAnally Wins CMA Musician of the Year Again

Coral Reefer Band member and singer/songwriter Mac McAnally has won CMA Musician of the Year for the second straight year.

“I’m tickled to be nominated in the only category you don’t have to go on a diet to be a part of,” said McAnally.

He was also up for Musical Event of the Year for “Down The Road” with Kenny Chesney but the award went to Brad Paisley and Keith Urban for “Start A Band.”

Musician of the Year and Musical Event of the Year were announced before Wednesday night’s broadcast of the 43rd Annual CMA Awards on ABC.

Buffett and the Reefers in St. Barts

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers played a show Saturday on St. Barts for the 60th anniversary of Le Select. Below is a video of Buffett singing “Cheeseburger in Paradise” at the show, as well as a 5 minute video filmed by bass guitarist Jim Mayer of him and Peter Mayer, Robert Greenidge and Michael Utley driving around on the island.

Buffett also played at Baz Bar on Thursday night.

Buffett Plays Surprise Show at Baz Bar on St. Bart’s

Jimmy Buffett has already made his way to St. Bart’s where he’ll play a show on Saturday for the 60th anniversary of Le Select. But last night he dropped into Baz Bar to play a few songs. Below are clips of “No Woman No Cry” and “Son of a Son of a Sailor”

“Margaritaville” Trademarked for Video Game Use

The video game blog Joystiq discovered a recent trademark filing for the word “Margaritaville” that would permit its use for video gaming purposes.

The filing covers several classes including computer game software and software for mobile phones.

Joystiq offers these fun guesses for what it could be:

  • A near-endless RPG: The Quest for the Lost Shaker of Salt
  • A sailing simulator: Son of a Son of a Sailing Simulator
  • A smooth rhythm game, which is sadly what it probably will be
  • A smooth rhythm game/sailing simulator, which … which might be kind of magical
