Buffett Tracks Now Available For “Rock Band” On Wii

January 20th, 2009

Back in May, Jimmy Buffett laid three tracks for the video game “Rock Band” for the Playstation and Xbox platforms. Well now you can get two of them for Rock Band on your Nintendo Wii!

Harmonix and MTV Games announced today the addition of six new tracks to the Rock Band Music Store catalog of downloadable content for the Wii.

The line up includes “March of the Pigs” and “The Collector” from industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, “I Fought the Law” from English punk rock band the Clash and “Rockaway Beach” from the infamous punk rock band Ramones. The offering also features two exclusive 2008 Rock Band re-recordings of “Margaritaville” and “Volcano” from singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett.

Wii fans can expect a rollout of the previously released downloadable content every week until the entire back catalogue of more than 500 songs is available. In addition, the regularly scheduled future DLC releases for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 will also be available for Rock Band 2 Wii owners starting in February.

Download the songs by going to the in-game Rock Band Music Store. Tracks cost 200 Wii points each ($2.00). You must purchase Wii points via the Wii Shop Channel.

Play “Rock Band” in Atlanta parking lot

June 3rd, 2008

Parrotheads tailgating before the show on Thursday at the Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta, Georgia will have a chance to rock out to Buffett’s song on a portable version of “Rock Band” mounted to a golf cart:

The second part of Jimmy Buffett’s tour kicks off in Atlanta June 5. The singer has called on Meridian’s Peavey Electronics to add a little excitement to it.

Peavey makes the game controllers for the popular electronic guitar games and Buffett asked the company to make one for ‘Rock Band’, a game that features several of his songs.

Instead of a standard game controller, Buffett wanted this one to be on a golf cart.

“I’m going to look forward to seeing his face when he sees it in Atlanta Thursday. We’ve had a ball doing it and it pretty much speaks for himself,” said company founder Hartley Peavey.

“Jimmy’s Sharkart”, as it will be called, will be on hand before the concert, as fans tailgate. They’ll get a shot at a high score, and a chance to meet Buffett.
