Buffett Hands Out Burgers at Box Office Opening for Margaritaville Musical

December 10th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett was on hand Friday at the Marquis Theater box office as tickets for his musical ‘Escape to Margaritaville’ went on sale.

Island rocker Jimmy Buffett caused a sensation in Times Square on Friday when he appeared outside the Marquis Theatre to help open the box office for his Broadway musical, “Escape to Margaritaville.”

Buffett passed out more than 500 cheeseburgers to fans — a nod to his hit “Cheeseburger in Paradise” — and “posed for nearly as many selfies” a spy said.

Although the temperature was far from tropical, theater owner James L. Nederlander was also out front scarfing a burger, promising that he and Buffett would return to do a “cheeseburger cookout” when the show opens in the spring.

The show begins previews in February.

Buffett to Play Concert on St. Barths

December 10th, 2017

According to the Caribbean Journal, Jimmy Buffett will play a free show in Gustavia, St. Barths on December 27th in an effort to bring more visitors to the island that is recovering from hurricane devastation:

Jimmy Buffett, the music superstar and frequent St Barth visitor, is planning to play a free concert in Gustavia on Dec. 27.

The concert will be held on the quai in St Barth’s tiny capital; Buffett will be accompanied by local musician Soley and other musicians from the island.

“He hopes that by performing there he will persuade a few more people to come down for the holidays,” said Stiles Bennet, president and CMO of Wimco Villas. “It’s a fun way for folks to support the island’s recovery.”

Buffett has had a decades-long relationship with the island, and some of his most legendary songs were inspired by St Barth, including One Particular Harbor, Au Tour de Rocher and Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Buffett has in recent years been known to play impromptu sets at St Barth hotspots like Le Select.

As Caribbean Journal reported, St Barth has been making a rapid recovery in the wake of Hurricane Irma; Buffett’s concert should only provide an even bigger boost.

More Photos from ‘The Beach Bum’ Filming

November 30th, 2017

The Daily Mail has more photos from the filming of ‘The Beach Bum’:

He plays a stoner in the upcoming comedy The Beach Bum. And Matthew McConaughey was totally in character as he continued filming scenes for the upcoming film in Miami on Wednesday, pretending to puff away on a fake joint as he stood behind a microphone on stage alongside Jimmy Buffett.

Even Matthew’s co-star, 70, pretended to smoke as well, flashing a relaxed smile as he sat beside the actor beside the beach while holding onto the faux joint.

The scene saw Matthew standing behind a microphone as he held a notebook and clutched the fake joint.
Dressed from head-to-toe in his character’s trademark funky wear, Matthew looked slightly disheveled as he wore a long blonde wig, unbuttoned tropical print shirt, and matching shorts.

The pair sure seemed to be having some fun as they hit the stage together, delighting the adoring audience.
Jimmy rocked a red T-shirt with palm tree design, bright neon blue shorts, and a hat.
