Blog Article on “Hoot” Screening

April 14th, 2006

The film blog Cinematical has an article on Thursday night’s “Hoot” screening:

Weeks in advance of the May 5 opening of Hoot, audiences at 400 theaters saw an advance screening complete with a panel of 6 of the cast and filmmakers being interviewed.

After the screening, the ensemble were piped in “Live from Irvine, California”. Linley, Larson, Shriner, Hiassen and producers Jimmy Buffet and Frank Marshall discussed the film. Buffet, accompanied by guitar, timbales and conga, performed the theme song “[Sometimes] Good Guys Win.” Buffet bought the rights to Hiaasen’s book, negotiating with the author during a short plane flight. Comprehensive Guide to Attending a Buffett Concert

April 13th, 2006

The East Valley Tribune has a comprehensive guide to attending a Jimmy Buffett concert:

They sound like something out of a Roger Corman horror flick from the ’50s. They are known as “Heads,” those ardent fans of bands like the Grateful Dead (Deadheads), Phish (Phishheads) and Dave Matthews Band (Daveheads).

Locally, we have the Peaceheads, fans of Tempe’s Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers.

But while what you need to fit in with Deadheads (tie-dyed shirt, funky brownies), Daveheads (shorts, T-shirt) or Peaceheads (straw cowboy hat, petroglyph medallion) is pretty simple, fitting in with the Parrotheads, those wacky Jimmy Buffett “PHanatics,” requires a lot more to blend in with the “PHlock.”

Here is Get Out’s guide for everything you need to hit Jimmy Buffett’s show Tuesday.

Read on here.
