The parent company of Cheeseburger In Paradise, OSI Restaurant Partners, is putting the Key West-inspired chain up for sale:

OSI Restaurant Partners, the Tampa-based owner of the Outback Steakhouse chain, which sold most of its stake in the Lee Roy Selmon’s barbecue chain last year, is looking to sell two more brands: Cheeseburger in Paradise, and Roy’s. “Our growth priorities in the future will be focused on our larger concepts: Outback … Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Fleming’s,” general counsel Joe Kadow said via e-mail Wednesday. “We are evaluating strategies for ultimately exiting the smaller concepts” but are “under no set timetable,” he said.

Cheeseburger In Paradise was founded in 2002 by OSI Restaurant Partners in collaboration with Jimmy Buffett. According to the article, the chain has 39 locations across 18 states.

In 2005, Buffett sold his holdings of the chain to OSI, who previously held a 50% share in the chain. OSI pays a royalty of 4.5 percent of restaurant sales to Buffett.

In recent months, OSI has closed several CIP restaurants, including locations in Asheville, NC; Lansing, MI; York, PA; Greenville, SC; and Leawood, KS.

Jimmy Buffett and Coral Reefer Mac McAnally will play a show at the new Margaritaville Cafe in Glendale, Arizona today to celebrate the grand opening.

The show will be broadcast live on the web at www.radiomargaritaville.com and on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 31.

Miles Hampton will DJ the pre-show from the cafe beginning at 6pm EDT (3pm local). Jimmy and Mac will take the stage at 9pm EDT (6pm local). Gates open at 4pm local time.

While the show is free, fans will need a ticket to get into the gig, and pairs of tickets can be won beginning Tuesday, April 1, through these media outlets: Margaritaville.com , New Times , KNIX 102.5, MIX 96.9, KEZ 99.9, KFYI 550, XTRA 910, 944 Magazine and Radio Margaritaville. Tickets can also be won at the Glendale Margaritaville location, as the restaurant will be drawing to give away 60 tickets daily.

Doors for he Glendale show open at 4:30 and Buffett, who will be accompanied by longtime backing guitarist Mac MacAnally, play at 5:30.

Update – Radio Margaritaville will broadcast the show live! Join Miles Hampton for the pre-show from 6pm – 9pm eastern time. Jimmy will then take the stage for an intimate, free concert.

I wonder if Jimmy was at the Florida DMV this morning?
