Buffett Vacations at the Outer Banks

November 14th, 2008

Real Kiteboarding of Cape Hatteras, NC has a writeup on Jimmy Buffett’s recent stop to the Outer Banks to do some surfing and fishing:

There’s not too many days that you get to take a session with someone as cool, laid back and talented as Jimmy Buffett. Two years ago we were lucky enough to bump into Jimmy in the British Virgin Islands and spent a day surfing head high point break waves with light offshore winds. Tons of long waves, big smiles and lifelong memories were had that day.

On Tuesday, November 10th, Jimmy Buffett caught up with us again at the new REAL Flagship Store in Cape Hatteras, NC. Jimmy was on a road trip from New York to Charleston, SC in his vegetable oil powered diesel 4×4 van nicknamed “The Green Tomato”.

And here is a video from Real Kiteboarding that features a photo slideshow and some video of Buffett’s visit:

Sun-Times Blogger covers Alpine Tailgate

July 20th, 2008

Dave Hoekstra of the Chicago Sun-Times covered Saturday night’s show at the Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy Wisconsin on his blog. You can also watch a video of the pre-concert tailgating:

I’ve always wanted to visually document Tropical Tailgating before a Jimmy Buffett concert at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wis. Despite a fading recording industry, his concert audience continues to grow because of his shrewd (and fun) marketing sensibilities.
Saturday, 7/19 was no exception.

Check it out here.

JB Appears On The Late Show With David Letterman

May 22nd, 2008

Jimmy Buffett appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday night to discuss his new book “Swine Not?”.

It was Jimmy’s first appearance on Letterman since November 22nd, 1996 when he performed “Ho Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum” off his then-new album “Christmas Island.”

They discussed the novel, and how songwriting and writing books is similar. They then talked about the France/Ecstasy incident. Jimmy mentioned that the day before he was detained by French authorities, he had played a show for the Marines at the US Embassy in Paris.

After the commercial break, Jimmy performed “Volcano” with Mac McAnally, Ralph MacDonald, and Paul Schaeffer and the CBS Orchestra. Also, for a web-only exclusive, they performed “Bama Breeze.” You can view that performance here.
