Buffett Live from St. Louis Tonight

April 29th, 2010

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band continue the first leg of the 2010 Under The Big Top Tour tonight with a show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (Riverport) in St. Louis.

You can listen to the show live on Radio Margaritaville at RadioMargaritaville.com or on Sirius 31 / XM 55. Tune in at 7:30 pm CT for the pre-show. Jimmy will take the stage shortly after 8 pm.

A great new addition to this year’s tour is the Big Top Tour USTREAM channel. Buffett has live streamed portions of the soundcheck, as well as several songs from both shows thus far. So surf over to the channel at 2 pm CT for live video of the soundcheck, and then tune in again during the show. Buffett even joined in on the chat during Tuesday’s soundcheck.

Also, I (Josh) from BuffettWorld will be at the show. So if you see the BuffettWorld banner in the parking lot, be sure to stop by and say hello!

And as always, you can follow along with the set list and chat with other parrotheads during the show on our forum.

Atlanta Soundcheck Report

April 27th, 2010

Jimmy live streamed some of the soundcheck again today in Atlanta. Spoiler Alert – don’t read on unless you want to know what some of the songs are that will be played tonight.

The USTREAM feed went live a little after 3 pm ET, and the first song rehearsed was “Take Another Road,” followed by “Tampico Trauma.” Neither of these were played on Saturday night in Tampa.

Then Zac Brown came out and joined Jimmy for Zac’s song “Where The Boat Comes From.” They then practiced “A Pirate Looks At Forty,” with Zac and Jimmy taking turns singing verses like on the CMT Crossroads episode. It was impromptu… you could hear Jimmy ask Zac if he wanted to sing on “Pirate” and also “Margaritaville.” Following that was “Last Man Standing.”

Video from the beginning of the soundcheck is available for playback. It shows Jimmy and the band practicing “Take Another Road”. View it now. It may only be available for a short time, so watch it now!

After soundcheck, Jimmy pulled out his iPad and chatted along in the USTREAM chat room:

Several fans asked about North Carolina tour dates. Jimmy responded saying that they played South Carolina in February and would be back to the Carolinas next year.

Be sure to tune into Radio Margaritaville for the show tonight. Check the USTREAM channel too… they streamed portions of the Tampa show.

Today’s Soundcheck to be Streamed Online

April 24th, 2010

The 2010 Under The Big Top Tour kicks off tonight at 8 pm in Tampa, Florida, and Jimmy Buffett is venturing even more into social media by streaming the soundcheck live on USTREAM.

From 3-5 pm ET, go to www.ustream.tv/channel/bttour to watch a live video feed from the soundcheck at Ford Amphitheater in Tampa, the kick off to this year’s tour. You can also watch it here at Buffett World (when it goes lives, it will appear in the video box below).

The USTREAM channel is titled “bttour,” so we’ll likely see video feeds throughout the summer. If you aren’t able to view the live feed this afternoon, the videos are often archived for later viewing.

South Park Lampoons Buffett Again in 200th Episode

April 15th, 2010

On Wednesday night Comedy Central aired the 200th episode of South Park, bringing back many of the celebrities they’ve made fun of over the years, including Jimmy Buffett.

The premise of the episode was that all of the celebrities were banding together to to file a class action lawsuit against the town of South Park for the constant ridiculing. They’re led by Tom Cruise, who agrees to drop the lawsuit if the town can arrange a meeting between him and the prophet Muhammad. Cruise believes that Muhammad is impervious to ridicule, and that they too can become impervious.

As Cruise pitches his idea to the other celebrities, he says to the cartoon Buffett: “Jimmy Buffett, how would you like it if no one could call your music drunken, frat boy monkey garbage?”

Buffett responds: “I’d…. I’d love it.”

Watch the full episode here. The part with Buffett starts around the 7:05 mark.

Buffett was first lampooned on the show back in 2008 when he was shown performing “AIDSburger in Paradise” at a benefit concert for Cartman after he was diagnosed with AIDS. Watch the clip.
