Buffett Joins Jack Jackson on Stage

Jimmy Buffett joined Jack Johnson on stage on Sunday night at Johnson’s show at the Charter One Pavillion in Chicago. Buffett came out and performed A Pirate Looks at Forty with Johnson for an encore.

Johnson’s song “The Horizon Has Been Defeated” has been a regular in Buffett’s set lists this summer, while “A Pirate Looks At Forty” is often played by Johnson at his shows.

Margaritaville Meets Nashville

The Star Tribune has an article about Buffett’s influence on country music.

Kenny Chesney isn’t the only singer in Nashville who has caught the beach bug.

“I think everybody’s a Jimmy Buffett wannabe,” Chesney said. “Deep down, Jimmy was always a country artist. His songs had a country soul to them.”

Country stars have signed up in droves to sing with him ever since he and Alan Jackson scored a No. 1 hit with It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere, a hedonistic anthem that fits Buffett’s slap-happy escapism.
