Watch Video Premiere of “University of Bourbon Street”

March 7th, 2024

Billboard.com has the exclusive premiere of the new music video for “University of Bourbon Street” from Jimmy Buffett’s final album Equal Strain on All Parts.

The video is full of scenes of Jimmy in New Orleans over the years, as well as footage from Jimmy in the studio and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing for the song.

The late Jimmy Buffett deeply loved New Orleans. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, he moved to the Crescent City for a year and his time there informed the rest of his musical life.

He played New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at least a dozen times, adored New Orleans legendary composer/artist Allen Toussaint (who wrote a song called “I’m Gonna Hang with Jimmy Buffett”), recorded and toured with local icons The Neville Brothers, and when asked by a journalist if he thought “there would be a Jimmy Buffett if there wasn’t a New Orleans,” Buffett replied, “I don’t think there ever would have been.”

Watch New Music Video for “Like My Dog”

November 25th, 2023

A new music video for the single “Like My Dog” from Jimmy Buffett’s new album Equal Strain on All Parts has been released today:

From The Today Show:

The music video, which was created in collaboration with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, also features footage of fans playing with their pets.

Buffett died Sept. 1 at age 76 after a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer. Before his death, he asked his fans on social media to submit footage of them playing with their dogs.

Matt Bershadker, ASPCA president and CEO, said in a statement that the video aims to honor Buffett’s legacy.

“The dedication and humanity Jimmy Buffett put into his music crossed over into his love for animals, especially pets and wildlife,” Bershadker said. “This collaboration honors Jimmy’s legacy and animal advocacy and reflects our shared commitment to help vulnerable dogs find safe and loving homes.”

Watch the Music Video for “Bubbles Up”

October 30th, 2023

CMT premiered today the music video for “Bubbles Up” from Jimmy Buffett’s upcoming posthumous album Equal Strain on All Parts.

Buffett wrote the song with Will Kimbrough, and “Bubbles Up” was produced by Michael Utley and Mac McAnally.

The music video for the encouraging, emotional “Bubbles Up” debuts today and was produced by Stan Kellam, who co-directed it with Jeremy Clevenger.

Buffett’s team explained the video features, “Jimmy and what he loved doing. From performance footage in the 70s to more recent days, being on and in the water, playing for fans, flying, each frame holds wonderful memories of a well-lived life. The opening shot is Jimmy filming himself jumping into the water.”

“Bubbles Up” is from Buffett’s posthumous album, “Equal Strain On All Parts,” which will be available Friday.

The video includes footage of Buffett enjoying life, in the water, performing, with friends and doing what he loved to do.

“It brings a smile,” his team commented. “Jimmy was joy.”

Buffett’s team hopes fans are comforted to see the singer and hear his loving, supportive message.

“Just know you are loved, there’s light up above, and the joy is always enough on the road ahead,” they said.” If you loved Jimmy, it’s impossible not to completely lose it. He is missed beyond measure.”

Buffett Premiers “Down at the Lah De Dah” Music Video

July 3rd, 2020

Jimmy Buffett has released the music video for the song “Down at the Lah De Dah,” premiering it on CMT.com today.

The video, with members of the band in a variety of locations during COVID lockdown, was inspired by a birthday greeting that Lin-Manuel Miranda organized:

What gave me the idea was when Lin-Manuel Miranda, who did Hamilton, made a YouTube video of a birthday greeting to a little girl. He got the idea to get the original cast members and put together a video with them filming themselves, wherever they were. When I saw that, I said, “That’s how we do this!” Fortunately I’ve worked with Lin before and he’s a friend, and I called him and said, “How’d you do that?!” (laughs)

So we took Paul Brady from Dublin, the girls in California, the band in Nashville, me in Malibu, and it looks really great! We used our video director, Stan Kallem, who does all of our roadwork – he’s a pretty talented guy but also knows us, and has been around us enough to know how to “do us” in particular. We took basically what we do at shows, which is try to treat people to a little more than just the songs. We take them on a bit of a vacation. I think he did a brilliant job. I tested it on people from 15 to 75 and it worked!
