The public launch of Jimmy Buffett’s new social game Margaritaville Online will be January 25th, not the 18th as we were previously told.

Along with the public release will come cross-platform support for iPhone and iPad. Up until now the game has only been playable through Facebook.
“The Margaritaville laidback state of mind is inherently social, and THQ (the game developer) has captured the spirit of that lifestyle in this game,” said Buffett. “With Margaritaville Online, fans across the globe can party together any time and any place.”

Developed by Exploding Barrel Games, the 3D open world features tropical environments and a full catalog of Buffett’s music. Players can create their own island resort, play mini-games and interact with characters from Buffett’s songs and literary works including Captain Tony and Joe Merchant. They’ll even be able to create their own band.

Margaritaville Online, the social game from Jimmy Buffett that many of you have already been playing via the Buffett Beta Club, will be released to the general public on January 18th.

Margaritaville Online announced today that they are officially in closed beta! That means that you can help test out the new social game from Jimmy Buffett before it’s available to everyone.

If you want to be a beta tester, hurry up and get signed in as they’ll only be taking 5,000 players for now.

For being in the Buffett Beta Club, you’ll receive an exclusive “Buffett Beta Club” shirt for your in-game avatar along with other cool in-game rewards!

The developers of Margaritaville Online are releasing weekly updates on the progress of the upcoming game.

This week’s Margaritaville Online Monday Development Update features a perfect example of a massive beach oasis that you are able to save up points/in-game currency for and customize! Everything can be customized from the roof, main paint, trim color, flags, furniture, and more. We can’t wait to see how you fuse your own personal style into your oasis!
