March 30th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett christened his latest Margaritaville restaurant, and first one ever in California, with a grand opening show on Thursday afternoon.

At 5 O’Clock today, Universal CityWalk toasted the official arrival of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant to its destination marking the occasion with an exciting performance by singer, songwriter and best-selling author, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.

Hundreds of Parrotheads and fans alike joined in the celebration that also marked the first-ever Margaritaville restaurant to open in California.

Jimmy Buffett said, “I walked onto the site of CityWalk when it was still under construction, and my first thought was ‘I want a Margaritaville here.’ Thanks to the great folks at Universal, we made it. It’s great to play at the opening and I look forward to visiting regularly on my journeys to the West Coast. Fins Up!”

Buffett Considering a Margaritaville in Byron Bay

March 3rd, 2017

Jimmy Buffett is considering opening a Margaritaville restaurant in Byron Bay, Australia, according to NorthernStar.com:

Speaking from Palm Beach, Florida, ahead of his Bluesfest appearance in April, the singer said he will be scouting suitable locations for a possible business venture.

“Byron Bay is such a unique place to me,” he said.

“I’d like to look at some opportunities while I’m there.”

Mr Buffett said he would also be open to discuss a partnership with local businesspeople.

“If there was anybody interested, I would certainly be interested,” he said.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville is a United States-based casual dining restaurant chain and a chain of stores selling Jimmy Buffett-themed merchandise.

It is owned by Buffettand named after his hit song Margaritaville.

Asked on what type of set up would he be scouting for, Jimmy Buffett said it has to be a venue that suits the Byron Bay style.

“It doesn’t matter what size it is, I’d love to have a spot there just to get on the map, but it’s not about how large it is, it’s how it fits in with the rest of the community,” he said.

“It has to fit in with what I think it’s a wonderful kind of atmosphere that I associate with Byron Bay.”

Buffett to Open Retirement Community in Daytona

February 28th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Holdings is planning to open Latitude Margaritaville, a 55-year and older community in Daytona, Florida.

Plans for a 55-and-older Margaritaville-themed community are barely off the drawing board, but the spirit of the Jimmy Buffett song that inspired the project was evident in a welcome celebration on Thursday at LPGA International Golf Club.

The invitation-only party marked this week’s announcement by Canadian developer Minto Communities that Buffett’s Margaritaville Holdings company will be a strategic partner in developing Latitude Margaritaville, a planned 6,900-home community for 55-and-older residents on the north side of LPGA Boulevard, just west of Interstate 95.

The first homes are expected to be ready for move in by fall 2018, said William Bullock, a senior vice president with Minto. A sales center along LPGA Boulevard next to the Halifax Humane Society is expected to be open by this fall, with models available to tour by January 2018, Bullock said.

The community is being designed to reflect Buffett’s well-known tropical vibe, including the look and feel of its homes, which will feature an Old Florida/Key West architectural style, Bullock said.

Buffett Performs at Tulsa Margaritaville Opening

January 29th, 2017

Jimmy Buffett was in Tulsa on Saturday to perform a show at the grand opening of his Margaritaville Casino at River Spirit Resort Casino. Tulsa World has more:

“To the city of Tulsa, it’s great to not only play here, but to be part of the city,” Buffett said to the nearly 3,000 Parrotheads in attendance at the new River Spirit Casino Resort venue, Paradise Cove.

Saturday served as a grand opening party for the Margaritaville addition to the River Spirit Casino Resort, a feather in the cap of a $365 million renovation that has opened in stages over the last six months, starting with the Margaritaville casino and restaurant, then the hotel tower and music venue.

“One year ago today, we stood by as we laid the top beam on the hotel,” said Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief James Floyd. “We have a lot to celebrate today.”

And there was plenty of celebrating going on Saturday afternoon at the concert pre-party. The facility’s new ballroom was transformed into a tropical vision, with brightly colored flowers and beach balls, colorful drinks and colorful people itching to party, along with city and community leaders including Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum, Tulsa Regional Chamber CEO Mike Neal and Muscogee (Creek) Nation, city and county officials.
