Update on Jacksonville and Times Square Margaritaville Hotels

February 1st, 2021

There were some developments this week in Jimmy Buffett’s vast business empire.

Buffett’s latest hotel opened in Jacksonville, Florida last week:

The Jimmy Buffett-themed, 202-room hotel from Margaritaville and Elite Hospitality is now open to guests. The new building features three Margaritaville-inspired restaurants including the LandShark Bar & Grill, a large pool and firepit, a beachside observation deck, fitness center, and meeting space in addition to its guest rooms.

The new hotel is located at 715 1st St. N., just a few blocks north of Seawalk Pavilion.

And in the heart of New York City, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Resort Times Square is on track for a Spring opening:

Despite the fact that businesses have been ravaged due to the deleterious effects of the coronavirus, New Yorkers have something to look forward to. According to a recent New York Post report, iconic singer and entrepreneur, Jimmy Buffett has plans to bring his Margaritaville Resort empire to Times Square in this spring.

The glitzy resort was originally scheduled to make its debut in the fall of 2020, but was upended by the coronavirus. Located in a 32-story building on the southern edge of Times Square at 560 Seventh Avenue, the new Midtown headquarters for Buffett fans will feature 234 guest rooms, 4,861 square feet of ground-floor retail space, five restaurants and bars including License to Chill Bar, 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar, Landshark Bar & Grill, Joe Merchant and Margaritaville Restaurant, as was reported by the Post.

Happy Birthday Jimmy Buffett!

December 25th, 2020

BuffettWorld would like to wish Jimmy Buffett a happy 74th birthday today!

Jimmy wrote this about his birthday and Christmas for his 1996 album Christmas Island:

For those of you who didn’t know, I was born on Christmas Day 1946, the day W.C. Fields died. I think this only goes to prove that God does have a sense of humor, but being born on Christmas was rough going at first. The most obvious scam was to try and double up on presents. “Here’s your Birthday and Christmas present.” I even knew at that young tender age that a scam was in progress and it did not sit well with me. More importantly, it did not sit well with my mother, who made it known, in no uncertain terms to the aunts, uncles and cousins of the Buffett clan strung out along the Gulf coast, that she expected two presents for her bouncing baby boy-one for his birthday and one for Christmas. On the whole it worked quite well, though there were a few Scrooge like occurrences where I would get socks for my birthday and a tie for Christmas. This probably is the reason I never have liked to wear either since.

Born December 25th, 1946 to James Delaney Buffett and Mary Loraine, Jimmy shares his birthday with Humphrey Bogart, Sir Isaac Newton, Barbara Mandrell, Sissy Spacek, Annie Lennox, Justin Trudeau, Karl Rove, and Jesus Christ.

Happy birthday Jimmy and Merry Christmas everyone!
