Charlotte Concert Postponed Due to Weather

April 6th, 2018

With temperatures forecast to be in the mid-40’s at show time on Saturday, Jimmy Buffett has made the decision to postpone the Charlotte, NC show to Friday, April 27th, according to the Charlotte Observer:

Buffett, who was tapped to open the 2018 concert season at PNC Music Pavilion on Saturday night, has rescheduled the show for Friday, April 27, due to an unseasonably chilly weather forecast that also includes a chance of thunderstorms.

(Meanwhile, his concert at the coliseum in North Charleston — where temps won’t dip below 65 — will still take place Friday night as planned.)

Anyone with tickets to Buffett’s Charlotte show can hang onto them and use them on April 27 (no exchange is necessary), or get a refund wherever the tickets were purchased.

The Carolinas shows are part of a high-profile spring for Buffett, who turned 71 on Christmas Day. On March 15, “Escape to Margaritaville” — a jukebox musical-comedy featuring 20 numbers written by Buffett — premiered on Broadway.

Buffett Adds Mars Tour Date to Fall Schedule

April 1st, 2018

Jimmy Buffett continues to add 2018 Son of a Son of a Sailor Tour Dates, announcing this morning a show at the Veteran Farmers Fidelity Mutual Title Insurance Module at Centauri Base in Tyrrhena Terra on Mars this fall.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band to the Veteran Farmers Fidelity Mutual Title Insurance Module,” said Mason Biemer, commander of Centauri Base. “This will truly be the must-see concert of the Martian year.”

Residents of Tyrrhena Terra have not had a major act in the region for several months. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had some real good live entertainment” said perimeter security officer Joe Kilimanjaro. “Jason Aldean was here a few weeks back but his show was a real snoozer. I can’t wait for Jimmy to rocket in.”

Tailgating, as much a part of a Buffett concert as the show itself, will be allowed in Pemberton Modules A and B. The docking lot will open at 10:00am.

Jefferson Brown, chief of maintenance at Centauri Base, said that he’ll divert some of the air flow from the GorleyNode life support system to air up beach balls and other inflatables, such as pirate swords and blow-up dolls. When asked if this would jeopardize safety, Brown said “eh, it should be fine. I’m not too worried about it.”

This will likely be Buffett’s final show of the year as he plans to stop for an extended stay at his beach house on the Moon on the return trip to Earth.

“It’s been five years since we’ve been to Mars so it was time to get back and see all our Martian friends again,” Buffett said. “What better place to end the tour than the Red Planet. Red Planet at night, Landshark Lager delight. Margaritaville Jammin’ Jerk Shrimp.”

Tickets go on sale on Sol 104 at 10am MTC at the Valles Marineris Box Office and online at Ticketmaster and Ticketnetwork.

Huey Lewis & The News will open for Buffett.
