Two Texas Shows in 24 Hours

May 4th, 2013

After high winds and cold temperatures forced him to postpone his Austin show for a day, Jimmy Buffett took the stage at the brand new Tower Amphitheater on Friday night for the first of two shows in the state of Texas in a 24 hour span.

View the set list for the Austin show here. The set list changed a little from the previous Songs From St Somewhere shows. Buffett dropped both “Useless and Important Information” and “Oldest Surfer on the Beach.” “Pencil Thin Mustache,” “Knees of My Heart,” and “Tryin’ to Reason With Hurricane Season” made their first appearances of the tour.

Buffett has a quick turnaround. He’ll play Frisco, Texas tonight. You can listen to the show live on Radio Margaritaville.

After the Frisco show, Buffett is off for over a month, except for the Boston benefit show on May 30th. The next tour show is June 22nd in Mansfield, MA.

Buffett to Perform at Boston Benefit

May 3rd, 2013

Jimmy Buffett will perform later this month at a star-studded benefit show for the victims of the Boston bombings.

A burly line up of bands will play a “Boston Strong” benefit concert at the TD Garden on May 30th – with all funds going to help those most affected by the tragic events of April 15.

Beantown faves like Aerosmith, the J. Geils Band, New Kids on the Block, Extreme, and the band Boston will be joined by a host of American stars, like Carole King, James Taylor, Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, and Godsmack, along with comics Dane Cook and Steven Wright.

The show – titled “Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration” – will take place at Boston’s TD Garden on May 30. Tickets go on sale Monday May 6 at 10 a.m. though Tickemaster.com. They’re priced between $35 and $285.

All monies will go to The One Fund Boston, set up by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

“Like so many other proud Bostonians who have been extremely generous, we are honored to step up and do our part to help the victims and their families,” said Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block. “Hopefully this event will not only raise money, but spirits as well.”

“The One Fund event at the Garden this May 30th is destined to be a true Boston landmark,” said James Taylor. “ From the promoters to the sound & lights, to the performers and the Garden staff; everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love. I am honored to be a part of it, and … I can’t wait.”

More artists will be added to the bill and announced soon.
