Buffett Returns to Raleigh

June 7th, 2008

“Hot Hot Hot in North Carolina!” as Jimmy put it, turned out to be very true for the second stop of the second leg of the Year Of Still Here Tour in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Returning to Raleigh for the first time since 2004 and the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre for the first time since 2002, the first set again featured a few changes, as this time “License to Chill” was played in the second spot, replacing “The Tiki Bar is Open,” which was absent for the first time of the tour. Another change saw an acoustic version of “Why Don’t We Get Drunk” return after “Come Monday.”

The second set continued the changes with “Bama Breeze” sliding into the set for the first time since Tampa in 2007. An especially long second set also saw “Far Side of the World” back in the set after taking a show off. Atlanta’s premiere, “The City,” featuring Mac taking the lead vocal, also stayed in as the set pushed to 27 songs before the encore.

Again the only change in the encores was in the second one, with a performance of the recent classic “Coast of Carolina”, making its debut acoustically with Jimmy and Mac picking their way through a wonderful version. The song itself had not been played since June 6, 2006 in Charlotte.
