JB Appears On The Late Show With David Letterman

May 22nd, 2008

Jimmy Buffett appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday night to discuss his new book “Swine Not?”.

It was Jimmy’s first appearance on Letterman since November 22nd, 1996 when he performed “Ho Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum” off his then-new album “Christmas Island.”

They discussed the novel, and how songwriting and writing books is similar. They then talked about the France/Ecstasy incident. Jimmy mentioned that the day before he was detained by French authorities, he had played a show for the Marines at the US Embassy in Paris.

After the commercial break, Jimmy performed “Volcano” with Mac McAnally, Ralph MacDonald, and Paul Schaeffer and the CBS Orchestra. Also, for a web-only exclusive, they performed “Bama Breeze.” You can view that performance here.

Buffett In Rolling Stone’s Summer Tour Guide

May 17th, 2008

Jimmy Buffett made it into Rolling Stone’s 2008 Summer Tour Guide:

“I have no problem playing ‘Margaritaville’ for the 700,000th time,” says Buffett, who’s hewing to tradition by breaking out his “Big Eight” hits. “There are some songs you gotta do or get killed.” But he is also bringing out obscurities like 1988’s “Homemade Music,” and in August he’ll do a stripped-down appearance at the Newport Folk Festival. “I’m gonna be a folkie again,” says Buffett.

Also on Rolling Stone you can watch videos from Live in Anguilla. Check it out here.
