Buffett to Perform at Hollywood Beach Resort on Saturday

November 11th, 2015

Jimmy Buffett will head to south Florida on Saturday to perform at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort.

The chief Parrothead himself — Jimmy Buffett — will perform Saturday at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort as part of its grand opening festivities, a hotel spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday.

Buffett is expected to perform between 4 and 6 p.m. in the iconic band shell along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk — now under management of the 349-room resort that opened in September.

Only registered hotel guests and special invitees will be able to attend the concert, but beachgoers should be able to view Buffett’s performance on digital monitors erected around the bandshell, the hotel spokeswoman said.

Rooms are still available at the hotel for the weekend for people interested in taking in Buffett’s performance. Rates start at $399 a night, which will include a Margaritaville Beach Party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will have a “soft opening” Tuesday, welcoming a 150-person corporate group and its first leisure customers, General Manager Cate Farmer said Monday.

More people will begin arriving Oct. 1, the resort’s official opening day, Farmer said. Before then, walk-in reservations may be accepted if rooms are available.

The announcement, a long-held secret, came during a media tour of the $175 million resort, which includes 178 king rooms, 155 queen rooms and 14 suites, along with the Jimmy Buffett Presidential Suite and the Coral Reefer Suite, which will occupy the penthouse level.

Rates for Oct. 1 start at $206.10 for a king room with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway, purchased in advance, according to the resort’s website. A king room with an ocean view goes for $224.10. Regular rates begin at $259 a night.

A $15 daily resort fee also applies, covering free Wi-Fi, use of the fitness center, two beach chairs and umbrella, bottled water, in-room coffee and local phone calls.

Huge Margaritaville Resort Coming to Orlando

August 12th, 2015

Soon there will be more than just a Margaritaville restaurant in Orlando. A lot more. A “Margaritavillage,” consisting of a hotel, vacation homes, retail space, water park, and a lot more will be built on 300 acres near Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

A new resort called Margaritavillage, which will include a hotel, more than 1,000 vacation homes and condos, retail and a beach area, will open in Osceola County in 2017, its developers said Wednesday.

The Margaritavillage hotel is expected to have 175 to 300 rooms and would include a lake with a dedicated beach area and a regional water park. A “lagoon-sized” pool is also planned, said Bagley.

The development plans also include a “FinCity” arcade, a St. Somewhere Spa, a planetarium, a Son of a Sailor fishing school, paddle boarding and kayaking.

Additionally, 170,000 square feet of retail space will be built. No brands have been announced, but Bagley said there’s been strong demand for leasing information.

Encore will develop and own food-and-beverage options, which have not been detailed, at the resort. Plans do not include building a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant, said Bagley. There’s a Margaritaville restaurant at Universal Orlando CityWalk, near the entrance of the Island of Adventure theme park.

Site preparation is underway, and developers expect to begin vertical construction in the third quarter of 2016. All phases of the project will be under construction at the same time.

Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Looking to Fill 300 Jobs

June 11th, 2015

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Hotel is looking to fill hundreds of jobs before it opens this fall:

Tim Arnold, director of food and beverage at the Jimmy Buffett-inspired resort, said he is looking to fill about 300 jobs for the 349-room hotel and its eight restaurant and bar venues.

Hundreds of applicants are expected to participate in the resort’s hiring event June 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club, 4600 Hillcrest Drive in Hollywood.

Arnold told the South Florida Business Journal that job seekers will be placed in a “dynamic” environment at the event to see how they respond to the Margaritaville vibe, while still maintaining their professionalism. He said they should also bring resumes and be prepared to talk about their past work experience.

“We’re not hung up on the dress code,” Arnold said about the event. “We’re focused more on personality, enthusiasm.”

Margaritaville Hollywood expects to hire people from all hospitality backgrounds, Arnold said, from previous amusement park workers to luxury hotel workers and others.

Book Your Room at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort

May 20th, 2015

The new Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort in Florida is now taking reservations, with the first date available as October 1st (though the firm opening date may change slightly).

Rates at the 349-room resort on the Broadwalk begin at $259 a night, a hotel spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The resort includes 151 king rooms, 154 queen rooms and 44 suites, along with the Jimmy Buffett Suite and the Coral Reefer Suite, which will occupy the penthouse level of the 17-story resort.

The $147 million Margaritaville, at Johnson Street and State Road A1A, will include eight restaurants and bars, oceanside pools, a FlowRider wave ride, spa and fitness center and 30,000 square feet of convention space.

“We look forward to welcoming our first guests,” General Manager Cate Farmer said in a news release Tuesday.

Reservations are being accepted for stays starting Oct. 1, but the date will be adjusted when a firm opening date is set, the spokewoman said.

So far, the Margaritaville has said only that it will open in “summer 2015.” Hotel developer Lon Tabatchnick told city commissioners in April that Margaritaville could open after mid-July and before Labor Day, if all goes as planned.

You can book a room by calling 1-844-5OCLOCK (844-562-5625) or online at www.MargaritavilleResorts.com
