The nominees for the 47th annual Grammy Awards were announced today. Jimmy Buffett is nominated for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “Hey Good Looking,” joined by Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, and George Strait.

Other nominees in the category include Norah Jones & Dolly Parton for “Creepin’ In”; Loretta Lynn & Jack White for “Portland Oregon”; Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard & Toby Keith for “Pancho & Lefty”; and Shania Twain with Alison Krauss & Union Station for “Coat Of Many Colors.”

The Grammy Awards Show will air February 13th at 8 pm eastern on CBS.

Jimmy did an interview with Kyra Phillips on Live on CNN Monday afternoon. They discussed his new book, A Salty Piece of Land, his first album Down to Earth, the Florabama, his spiritual side, and Key West among other topics.

Buffett will also stop by the Today Show tomorrow (the 30th) where he will do an interview and perform the song “A Salty Piece of Land” that will be included on a CD with the novel. He can also be seen on Regis and Kelly on Thursday, Dec. 2nd.

The Chicago Cubs are exploring the possibility of holding rock concerts at Wrigley Field every other year, beginning as early as Labor Day 2005.

Buffett, a diehard Cubs fans who has already sung the national anthem and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley, is the likely opening act. He played at Fenway Park last season.

There is an article in the Wisconsin State Journal on Buffett guitarist Peter Mayer.


It isn’t surprising that singer, songwriter and guitarist Peter Mayer, born to Christian missionaries, would end up playing concerts at churches across the United States.

But his other job is more unexpected. Each year, Mayer plays lead guitar at sold-out arenas and amphitheaters for an oft-hedonistic crowd of “Parrotheads” as part of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band.
