Happy 60th Birthday to Jimmy!

December 25th, 2006

A pirate looks at sixty on Monday as Jimmy Buffett turns 60 years old. Jimmy was born December 25, 1946, as James William Buffett in Pascagoula, Mississippi to James Delaney Buffett and Mary Loriane “Peets” Buffett.

When Buffett celebrated his 50th birthday in 1996, his first and only Christmas album “Christmas Island” had been out for two months and “Banana Wind” had been released 6 months prior. He also penned his autobiography, “A Pirate Looks At Fifty,” around his 50th birthday. “Floridays” was Buffett’s latest album on his 40th birthday in 1986.

BuffettWorld would like to wish Jimmy a very happy 60th birthday!

Seals Find a Friend in Margaritaville

December 21st, 2006

Jimmy Buffett recently issued a letter declaring that his Margaritaville Cafes will not purchase or serve Canadian seafood products until the Canadian government ends the commercial seal hunt permanently.

I do not look at this as one nation telling another how to best manage its affairs. I view it as an effort to make humans more humane in the way they manage the planet. We do not own the earth. We are landlords and we simply need to do a better job, for all creatures on this earth.
