Buffett rocks Tampa for the first of two shows

November 1st, 2007

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band played the first of two shows from the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida on Thursday night. Florida Governor Charlie Crist introduced Buffett to the 20,000 fans, saying, “He has Florida in his heart and he loves her like I do.”

Buffett and Crist met privately before the show to discuss their concerns over the protection of Manatees. “He said, ‘I just want to thank you for what you did for the manatees,'” Crist said. “And I said, ‘No, thank you. Thank you for doing so much for our state and looking out for our wildlife and our natural estuaries and caring so much about Florida.'” Read more here.

Though there weren’t too many rare songs in the set list, Buffett rounded out the show with a great acoustic rendition of “Trying To Reason With Hurricane Season,” played live for the first time since December 5, 2003 in Key West.
