Buffett Records Spot for Wheel of Fortune

June 8th, 2019

Jimmy Buffett was in Daytona Beach in May and filmed a spot to air on upcoming Wheel of Fortune episodes:

When the syndicated television game show “Wheel of Fortune” this summer reruns the week-long series of Latitude Margaritaville-themed episodes it originally broadcast last fall, it will include a new segment recently filmed here featuring a surprise guest.

None other than Jimmy Buffett, the singer-songwriter whose music serves as the inspiration for the Latitude Margaritaville 55-and-older active adult community in Daytona Beach.

Buffett made the unannounced appearance May 20 during the filming of a soon-to-be-aired new segment for “Wheel of Fortune.”

The segment, which featured the show’s hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White, was filmed inside the Daytona Beach active adult community’s new Latitude Bar & Chill restaurant, confirmed Bill Bullock, president of the Latitude Margaritaville division for developer Minto Communities.

“We knew Pat and Vanna were coming, but Jimmy was definitely a surprise,” said Bullock, who said he is not allowed to divulge details regarding the segment until it is broadcast this summer.

Vanna White recently posted a photo of herself and Buffett on her Facebook page, which was then re-posted by Latitude Margaritaville residents on a separate social media page devoted to their community.

Several Latitude Margaritaville residents took part as extras during the filming, according to Bullock.

Wheel of Fortune broadcast a week-long series of Latitude Margaritaville-themed shows last fall that included a viewer contest where the grand prize winner was given the choice of a new home at either Minto’s Jimmy Buffett community in Daytona Beach or in Hilton Head, South Carolina, or a cash prize.

Buffett to Sing National Anthem Before Saints NFC Championship Game

January 16th, 2019

The New Orleans Saints play this Sunday in the NFC Championship against the Los Angeles Rams in the Superdome and one of New Orleans’ favorite sons will perform the national anthem:

It’s not like New Orleans Saints fans really need much help getting amped up for Sunday’s NFC Championship tilt against the Los Angeles Rams at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

But they’re going to get it anyway, and from some noteworthy performers.

Inside the Superdome, Gulf Coast native and Saints superfan Jimmy Buffett — who has not only attended Saints games and practices in the past but has also had Saints head coach Sean Payton perform with him on on-stage — will perform the National Anthem before the game.

This is not the first time Jimmy will sing the national anthem at a Saints game. He last did the deed in 2006.

The NFC Championship game will air at 3:05pm ET on Fox.
