The New Orleans Saints play this Sunday in the NFC Championship against the Los Angeles Rams in the Superdome and one of New Orleans’ favorite sons will perform the national anthem:

It’s not like New Orleans Saints fans really need much help getting amped up for Sunday’s NFC Championship tilt against the Los Angeles Rams at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

But they’re going to get it anyway, and from some noteworthy performers.

Inside the Superdome, Gulf Coast native and Saints superfan Jimmy Buffett — who has not only attended Saints games and practices in the past but has also had Saints head coach Sean Payton perform with him on on-stage — will perform the National Anthem before the game.

This is not the first time Jimmy will sing the national anthem at a Saints game. He last did the deed in 2006.

The NFC Championship game will air at 3:05pm ET on Fox.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will take place in late April / early May and Jimmy Buffett is one of the headliners that will help celebrate the festival’s 50th anniversary.

Buffett is scheduled to perform on Sunday, May 5th.

Other major acts that will be performing at the show include The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Dave Matthews Band, Chris Stapleton, and Bob Seger. See the full lineup at the Jazz Fest’s website.

Jimmy Buffett will participate in a tribute to Willie Nelson in January at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Joining the lineup of the January 12th event at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena are Chris Stapleton, Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, Jimmy Buffett, Bobby Bare, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson, Margo Price, Micah Nelson, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ray Benson and Steve Earle. Previously announced performers for Willie: Life & Songs of an American Outlaw include George Strait, Alison Krauss, the Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson, John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson, Lee Ann Womack, Lyle Lovett, Norah Jones and the Little Willies, Sheryl Crow, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks and Vince Gill.

Now nearing his 86th birthday, singer-songwriter, activist, businessman and actor Willie Nelson remains one of the most influential artists in any genre of music. The once-in-a-lifetime concert event in tribute to some of his greatest hits will be filmed for a broadcast television special premiering on the A&E network next year.

Jimmy Buffett will once again use his musical talents and celebrity to get out the vote in Florida. He’ll perform at a rally in West Palm Beach on Saturday for Senator Bill Nelson and gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.

The event is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach, according to a post by the Gillum campaign.

Palm Beach resident Buffett is no stranger to Democratic politics. A few days before the Aug. 28 Democratic primary, he performed a free concert in Hollywood for Gwen Graham, who finished second to Gillum in the five-candidate race.
