Jimmy Buffett hit one of his favorite nightlife spots on New Year’s Eve: Baz Bar on the island of St. Barth, where he owns a home.

Jimmy Buffett was in New Orleans on Saturday night and made a surprise on-stage appearance with Anders Osborne at his show at Tipitina’s.

Anders Osborne typically invites special guests to join him for his annual Holiday Spectacular concerts at Tipitina’s. On Saturday (Dec. 6), the second night of this year’s Spectacular, those guests included a surprise sit-in by Jimmy Buffett.

During the sold-out show’s first set, Buffett joined Osborne, Dave and Tommy Malone, and Osborne’s all-star band for the New Orleans standard “Iko Iko.” Buffett took a seat onstage alongside the others to strum an acoustic guitar and sing.

He’d spent the first part of the evening watching the show from his perch atop an equipment case at the side of the stage. He was non-committal when photographer Erika Goldring asked him if he planned to get up onstage. “He said, ‘Aw, I don’t know. I just came here to watch.’ He thought they were going to be singing Christmas songs.”

On Wednesday night in Tallahassee, Jimmy Buffett performed for 1,500 in an effort to rally voters for congressional candidate Gwen Graham.

Gwen Graham’s closing statement to the voters of the 2nd Congressional District begins with Jimmy Buffett. The quintessential Floridian, as one Parrothead described him, entertained about 1,500 people Wednesday at a get-out-the vote rally held in a Tallahassee nightclub.

“Politics and music, my two favorite things,” whooped Marty Monroe, a Tallahassee resident, before Buffett took the stage. “Jimmy Buffett’s commitment to the environment is my kind of politics.”

Gwen Graham and incumbent Congressman Steve Southerland, R-Panama City, are engaged in a tight race. That both parties think they can win the seat is evident by a reported flood of $7-million in outside money inundating voters with broadcast commercials, mailings and knocks on the door.

Jimmy Buffett will reportedly perform in Hermosa Beach, CA on Saturday night as part of the Discovery Channel’s FinFest:

Jimmy Buffett will perform Saturday, Aug. 9, as “Shark Week” invades Hermosa Beach with the inaugural FinFest. “Parrotheads,” as his fans are known, will be able to see the “Margaritaville” singer for free by the H.B. Pier at 6 p.m.

The free two-day event, which is part of Discovery Channel’s 27th week-long celebration of the ocean predator, will be filled with various shark-themed activities starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10.

Bands scheduled to perform throughout the weekend are John Butler Trio, Common Sense, Matt Costa Band, The Groove Trotters and North Mississippi Allstars. There will also be a 60-foot mechanical shark referred to as ‘Sharkzilla’ who will be chomping various items every hour.
