The 2008 Year Of Still Here Tour continued Saturday night as Jimmy moved the tour into Wisconsin for his annual visit.

Back at Alpine Valley yet again, all of the changes from Cincinnati where back out as the set list returned to standard form. No surprise songs appeared in the first set however 14 songs in Jimmy did bring back intermission for the first time since September 20th of last year when Jimmy played his second show in Madison Square Garden. No reason was given for the change.

The second set brought out the surprises right away as Jimmy invited the Juke Joint Duo, a Mississippi based blues duo consisting of Cedric Burnside and Lightnin Malcolm, up for a song. Since you can’t spell blues without him, Greg “Fingers” Taylor also joined in on the fun as they performed “Hey Bo Diddley” with Jimmy on vocals and then the Juke Joint Duo took over for their own “Let’s Come Together.” “Stars on the Water” followed that, making it’s first appearance since September 5, 2007 in Toronto. But the spotlight belonged to “Fingers” as he returned for “Son of a Son of a Sailor” and of course, “A Pirate Looks at Forty.” Another surprise came where you would least expect it as an unplanned version of the lost verse was thrown into “Margaritaville.”

The First Encore was the same as most of the tour with “Fins” and “Rainy Day Women #12 and 35” staying put, this time both featuring “Fingers.” The second encore was again a surprise, as Jimmy remarked “I have no idea what I’m gonna do right now, but it will come to me in a minute.” “Distantly in Love,” would be the song that came too him, a personal favorite of Jimmy’s. This was the first performance of the lovely song since March 24, 2007 in Anguilla.

The 2008 Year Of Still Here Tour was back on again Thursday night as Jimmy opened the third leg of the tour with a show in Cincinnati.

Returning to Cincinnati for the 24th straight year, the set changes started quick, with “Coconut Telegraph” popping up in the second slot. The next change followed that with the Harry Belafonte classic “Jamaica Farewell” making a return to the set list for the first time since August 19, 1990 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Who could have expected that? But Jimmy wasn’t done yet, as popping up in the 10th spot was “Take Another Road,” it’s first outing since February 20, 2001 in Charlotte, NC.

The second set continued the changes with Mac contributing “The Ass and The Hole” for the first time at a Buffett show since July 22, 1999 in Chicago. Another change was a strange one with “What If The Hokey Pokey Is All It Really Is About?” returning for the first time since October 5, 2002 in Irvine, CA.

The First Encore was the same as most of the tour with “Fins” and “Rainy Day Women #12 and 35” staying put. The second encore, which has brought some surprises this year, surprised again with a solo acoustic performance of the John Prine classic “Paradise,” only played once before in Cincinnati on June 18, 2002.

“Hello Again Philly!” finally welcomed the crowd to the next stop of the Year Of Still Here Tour in Philadelphia after a brief rain delay pushed things back a little.

Returning to Citizens Bank Park for the first time since 2005, the first set featured a new opener, a quick version of “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” performed Solo by Jimmy. This was the first known time that Jimmy has opened with “Get Drunk.” Past that, the set returned to regular tour form with “Fruitcakes” and “Miss You So Badly” returning to their spots in the set list after being skipped in New York.

The second set saw a few changes as well as “Tryin’ to Reason With Hurricane Season” was back in the set after being absent from the New York show. Nothing else was new to the set, but the order was slightly shuffled.

The First Encore was the same as New York, as “Glory Days” stayed in the set but was not an audible this time. The second encore was again different, this time with a solo acoustic performance of “Defying Gravity,” dedicated to Tim Russert and Family.

“Hello New York!” welcomed the crowd to the next stop of the Year Of Still Here Tour in New York City.

Returning to New York City for the third straight year, the first set featured a couple of big changes. “USS Zydecoldsmobile,” a duet with Sonny Landreth, took the third spot, bouncing “Fruitcakes” out of the set for the first time all year. The other change saw “We’re Still Here” return in the fifth spot, also knocking out “Miss You So Badly” for the first time all year.

The only change in the second set was Nadirah’s “Makin’ Music for Money” moving back up to the fourteenth spot. Nothing replaced it later on in the set, leaving the second set unusually short.

The First Encore remained rock steady, but after Jimmy finished “Rainy Day Woman #12 and 35,” he called the band back for one more song. “We’re calling an audible here” Jimmy joked before deciding on “Glory Days” to extend the First Encore. This was the first appearance of “Glory” since Houston earlier this year. The second encore was again different, this time with a solo acoustic performance of “Lovely Cruise,” making its first appearance since October 4, 2007 in Honolulu. “See You at Jones Beach!”

Tuesday Night, Jimmy brought the Year Of Still Here Tour back to Clarkston, Michigan.

Returning to Clarkston for the first time since 2006, the first set returned to early tour form with “The Tiki Bar is Open” back in the second spot, replacing “License to Chill” after a one show break. There was no “Why Don’t We Get Drunk” tonight, instead Jake Shimabukuro and Robert Greenidge treated fans to a fantastic version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

The second set saw a few changes as well as “Scarlet Begonias” was played instead of “Bama Breeze.” But the brightest moment of the night came when Jimmy introduced the one and only Greg “Fingers” Taylor as he played his trademark solos on “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” “The City” and of course, “A Pirate Looks at Forty.” “Fingers” had not played with Jimmy since the Bristow, Virginia show last June.

Again the only change in the encores was in the second one, with a solo acoustic performance of the classic “Tin Cup Chalice,” making its first appearance of the tour. It was last played November 3, 2007 in Tampa, Florida which was the last show of that tour.
