Buffett Loses Cell Phone in Restaurant

June 8th, 2005

According to a police report, a busboy in a Delray Beach eatery found Buffett’s cell and kept it for a week. After coaxing by Buffett’s staff and even wife, Jane Buffett, went awry, it took a visit from Lake Worth cops and a U.S. Secret Service agent to the home of busboy Jason Martin on June 4 for Buffett to get the phone back.

It may be time for Democratic giants Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Jimmy Carter; country music stars Clint Black, George Strait and Alan Jackson; rap-reggae star Cam’ron; actors George Clooney, Michael Douglas and Harrison Ford; and Microsoft supergeek Bill Gates to change their numbers. Martin says all their info is on the microchip.

“It’s a person’s worst nightmare,” Buffett said. “I had probably left the phone on the restaurant table, but I got it back.”

WSJ Article on Warren and Jimmy Buffett

May 2nd, 2005

There is an article in the Wall Street Journal on the relationship between investor Warren Buffett and Jimmy Buffett.

Jimmy Buffett is indeed a longtime Berkshire shareholder, and his short composition was played on videotape at Berkshire’s annual meetings in 2003 and 2004.

In fact, the singer has also been friends with Warren Buffett, Berkshire’s 74-year-old chairman and chief executive, for more than 20 years, both men say. They don’t see each other often, but they talk on the phone regularly about business. They have even performed music together. And they plan to collaborate again at a New York charity dinner for Conservation International tomorrow night.

Buffett Buys Manhattan Apartment

April 20th, 2005

From the NY Times:

Beachcombing balladeer Jimmy Buffett has had changes in attitude as well as changes in altitude since he bought a sky-high Manhattan apartment. The Post’s Braden Keil reports the salt-shaking songwriter has shelled out $11.7 million for a 73rd-floor apartment in the Time Warner Center’s south tower.

The four-bedroom condo, with views of Central Park and both rivers, includes 51/2 bathrooms, a maid’s room, library, large gourmet kitchen and former popstar neighbor Ricky Martin a few floors below. Buffett, whose main home is in Palm Beach, also has a summer estate in the Hamptons.
