Buffett to Perform at Boston Benefit

May 3rd, 2013

Jimmy Buffett will perform later this month at a star-studded benefit show for the victims of the Boston bombings.

A burly line up of bands will play a “Boston Strong” benefit concert at the TD Garden on May 30th – with all funds going to help those most affected by the tragic events of April 15.

Beantown faves like Aerosmith, the J. Geils Band, New Kids on the Block, Extreme, and the band Boston will be joined by a host of American stars, like Carole King, James Taylor, Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, and Godsmack, along with comics Dane Cook and Steven Wright.

The show – titled “Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration” – will take place at Boston’s TD Garden on May 30. Tickets go on sale Monday May 6 at 10 a.m. though Tickemaster.com. They’re priced between $35 and $285.

All monies will go to The One Fund Boston, set up by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

“Like so many other proud Bostonians who have been extremely generous, we are honored to step up and do our part to help the victims and their families,” said Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block. “Hopefully this event will not only raise money, but spirits as well.”

“The One Fund event at the Garden this May 30th is destined to be a true Boston landmark,” said James Taylor. “ From the promoters to the sound & lights, to the performers and the Garden staff; everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love. I am honored to be a part of it, and … I can’t wait.”

More artists will be added to the bill and announced soon.

Buffett Raises Money for Charity in San Francisco

October 19th, 2012

Jimmy Buffett performed at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Thursday night, raising money for Singing for Change.

You can view the set list here.

The Mercury News has a review of the show: “Jimmy Buffett delivers fun Fillmore show”

It was certainly the top ticket of the season for Parrothead Nation, aka, the group of devoted fans who like nothing better than to dress up in wild garb, toss back a few margaritas and go see Buffett in concert. It’s a sizable contingent, enough to fill up all the arenas and amphitheaters, from coast to coast, where the 65-year-old troubadour usually performs.

Yet, he wasn’t playing a 20,000-capacity place like Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre (Buffett’s usual stamping ground in the Bay Area) this time around. He was performing before roughly 1,000 fans, who were lucky enough to score tickets to the sold-out show.

These fans certainly knew that it was a rare opportunity and thus acted like they’d just been handed winning lottery tickets. They showered Buffett with raucous applause and cheers throughout his two-hour-plus show.

Although he was performing in an intimate setting, Buffett didn’t cheat the crowd. Instead, the singer-songwriter-guitarist and his 10-piece Coral Reefer Band delivered their regular arena-sized production — and it was thrilling to witness that kind of firepower in such relatively cozy confines.
