More Rumored Guest Performers

July 10th, 2010

We told you last night that it’s expected that Brooks & Dunn will join Jimmy Buffett tomorrow night for the concert on the beach in Gulf Shores, and that Brad Paisley is a possibility too.

Rumors today are circling that Alan Jackson will show up and maybe even George Strait. If these rumors pan out, this show could end up being even bigger than it was before when Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band were scheduled but had to back out.

Beginning at 7 p.m. ET/PT, CMT will air the show live for 90 minutes commercial-free. They’ll also stream the concert at CMT.com. As with any Jimmy Buffett show, you’ll be able to listen live on Radio Margaritaville on the web or Sirius 31 / XM 55.

He also said that he met Brooks & Dunn, and they said that they are indeed playing on Sunday.

Buffett Makes Fox & Friends over Bush Comments

July 9th, 2010

Jimmy Buffett is getting some criticism from political conservatives for his comments to the Associated Press earlier this week:

“To me it was more about eight years of bad policy before (Obama) got there that let this happen. It was Dracula running the blood bank in terms of oil and leases,” he said. “I think that has more to do with it than how the president reacted to it.”

Even Fox News’ morning show “Fox & Friends” chimed in today (video below), though host Gretchen Carlson incorrectly stated that the comments were made at a concert. No one here at Buffett World has heard Buffett make partisan political comments at shows.

Parking Info for Gulf Coast Concert

July 7th, 2010

Plan to arrive early and consider carpooling, biking, or walking to Sunday’s Jimmy Buffett concert in Gulf Shores, event organizers say.

A free park and ride shuttle system will be implemented for the event. Shuttles will begin running at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 11th from satellite lots stationed in area shopping centers and parks. The primary satellite parking lot is at The Wharf at the Route 2/Foley Express intersection. An event ticket is needed to board the shuttle.

Park and Ride locations are denoted with a P on the map. Auxiliary Shuttle Stops with no parking available are denoted by a bus on the map. Bring a copy of the map with you in case you need to travel to a nearby parking lot.

Please remember that shuttles have assigned pick-up and drop-off locations. Don’t forget where you are dropped off! Return to this location for a shuttle ride back to the satellite parking lot where you originally started.

Handicap accessible shuttles will run on the red and yellow bus routes. There is also a handicap accessible parking lot located near the event site at the northeast corner of Highway 59 and East Beach Boulevard, in the Surf Style parking lot. Appropriate tags are necessary to enter this lot.

Additional parking lots may be added or changed. For the latest information, please visit the official “Concerts For The Coast” website before you travel. Traveler information will also be broadcast periodically on Sunny 105 FM and displayed on variable message signs in the area on the day of the event.

CMT Will Still Air Gulf Coast Concert

June 30th, 2010

Though the Gulf Coast concert has been rescheduled for July 11th, CMT still plans to air the show live.

Kenny Chesney has already said he won’t be able to attend on the 11th. No word has been received yet on the Zac Brown Band or the other acts that were scheduled to perform on July 1st. We assume they’ll still be attending until we hear otherwise.
