Buffett to Make Another Appearance on Hawaii Five-0

March 16th, 2012

Jimmy Buffett performs this weekend in Hawaii (Maui tonight and Honolulu on Sunday) and in an interview with Honolulu Pulse, he reveals that he’ll make another appearance as Frank Bama, helicopter pilot, on “Hawaii Five-0.” Buffett also mentions a new album in the works:

Looking ahead, Buffett says fans can anticipate a new album and another appearance on “Hawaii Five-0″ as veteran military helicopter pilot Frank Bama.

“We’re just kind of cruising along. We’re busy in our world — our casino is opening in Biloxi (Mississippi), we’ve got a lot of interesting things going on in the Margaritaville business side of things and also in the music side of things. I’m starting to write again, and it’s about time to do an album.

Buffett Duet on New Bret Michaels Album

February 9th, 2012

Bret Michael’s upcoming solo album will feature a couple of special guests, one of which is Jimmy Buffett:

“Loretta Lynn and I are gonna redo ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ together,” he tells Rolling Stone. “And, for me, growing up in a family that my father loved country music and Coal Miner’s Daughter, this is gonna be a really awesome time.”

How did the two come together? “I met her at Thanksgiving and it was really great. We were out at her ranch in Hurricane Mills and we sat there, me and her, and after everyone, the whole family and my crew sort of dissipated we sat there and started writing some songs together,” he says. And one of the ideas she had was redoing ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ and I thought it would be unbelievable for me and her to do that together.”

Among the other guests on the album are Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen and Jimmy Buffett. “The song ‘Get Your Rock On’ has Phil Collen from Def Leppard playing guitar with me and it also has Sal Costa from My Darkest Days, really, really good guitar player and good friend,” he says. “Jimmy Buffet and I did a live version of ‘Margaritaville’ together.”

Michaels says the two duets, with Lynn and Buffett, will be “two bonus tracks.” And of the rest of the record he says, “It is just straight up in your face rock & roll.”

Michaels joined Jimmy on stage in 2010 at his show in Detroit. Watch video of the appearance.

Buffett Working on New Album

December 12th, 2011

The New York Daily News has a short interview with Jimmy Buffett where he reveals that he’s working on his next album:

Jimmy Buffett isn’t impressed by Justin Bieber. At the Child Mind Institute Gala at Cipriani 42 on Thursday, we asked the “Margaritaville” singerwho he was listening to these days. Buffett, 64, who performed at the event, told us his son Cameron Marley had turned him on “to some people that are pretty cool,” but he was having a “senior moment” and couldn’t recall specifics. When we tried to jog his memory by suggesting Bieber’s name, Buffett shook his head. “No, it’s none of that,” he said. “It’s people that actually write songs and get onstage and sing.”

Buffett is still doing both. He told us that he’s working on his next album and has given himself a 2013 deadline to complete it.
