1980 VOLCANO TOUR ’80/HOT DOG & ROAD MAP TOUR

1980 started with a bang as Jimmy opened for The Eagles yet again for a few shows in late January. These few shows would mark the last time Jimmy opened for the Eagles as they famously broke-up after their summer tour. The Volcano Tour ’80 began in March and immediately Jimmy was facing inclement weather including getting snowed in in Indianapolis early in the tour. Jimmy expressed his thoughts on this during the WNEW broadcast of the March 14 show at the Palladium in New York. This was the first radio broadcast since the Dr. Pepper Music Festival back in ’77 also in New York. Even without a new album ready Jimmy still set out on a summer tour in late June. The tour included a satellite broadcast from Minneapolis on July 4th which featured a few new songs, “Incommunicado” and “Growing Older But Not Up.” Both were featured throughout the summer tour. The fall brought a acoustic tour w/Greg “Fingers” Taylor called “The Hot Dog and Road Map Tour” which saw Jimmy play the normal college campuses and small theatre’s.
