immy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band played the final show from Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon to thousands of parrotheads in Chicago.

Buffett took the crowd through a rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” towards the latter part of the show, sang a tribute to hurricane victims with “City of New Orleans,” and finished the show with Springsteen’s “Glory Days.”

Billboard has an article about Buffett’s Wrigley shows entitled “Buffett Winds Down Tour At Wrigley Field”.

Midway through yesterday’s two-and-a-half-hour show, Buffett, a longtime Cubs fan, said the idea was hatched appropriately enough “in a bar about seven years ago,” and thanked the city of Chicago and the Cubs for making it happen.

A native of the Gulf Coast, Buffett dedicated a sizeable portion of his set to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, signing a Cubs jersey at the front of the show and announcing that it would be auctioned off on eBay with the proceeds going to the Red Cross.

Crowds totaled over 87,000 for the two sold-out performances. “And you never know,” Buffett smirked at the end of the afternoon, “We might just do it again.”

Parrot Heads In Paradise togther with the Paradise Charitable Foundation has set up the Parrot Heads In Need (PHIN) Fund. This fund is being set up to help those Parrot Heads in the devastated areas.

Portland, Oregon has been listed on Ticketmaster as Thursday, October 27th at the Rose Garden. That sandwiches it between Vegas shows.

No word yet on an On Sale date for Portland or a show date for San Diego.
