Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and Armstrong and Aldrin walking on the moon. If you feel like dating yourself, share what you were doing at the time/where you watched it, etc. I wasn't born until '83 but am a huge space buff so I find it really interesting.

I was about a month past my 5th birthday and glued to the television. The whole thing mesmerized me. I watched the launch, I watched them walking on the moon, I watched the splashdown on their return to earth. I'm pretty sure I watched in between those times, too, but those are what I really remember very vividly.

I also remember Apollo 12, which launched in November of '69. The main thing I remember there was that I was in afternoon kindergarten and it launched about the time I had to leave to go to school. Mom couldn't get me away from the TV set because I wanted to see the launch and she finally picked me up and dragged me out of the house. LOL

I was 13 and the entire nation was glued to the TV.

As a bit of trivia, when I was a Freshman at the University of Cincinnati Neil Armstrong was on the faculty of the College of Engineering. I'd walk by his office on the way from my PL/1 programming class to the next class at the College of Business.

Part of UC's agreement for getting him there was that they wouldn't make him do any fund raising or anything like that, so he kept a low profile and simply taught classes.

I was just over four years old...I have no recollection. But I do remember learning about it in school.
