It has been a long time since I have posted on BW, not sure why...(nothing bad), just have been busy with changing jobs, etc. I seem to go through phases of listening to a lot of Buffett all the time and then not listening to him all that often. Maybe it is the winter blues. But, anyway, I did some thinking recently about what my main pull to Jimmy and his music is...and I seem to love his rare appearances at small venues, bars, guest appearances, and solo shows, more so than his full tours. Absolutely nothing against the CRB, but something in Jimmy's small-venue/solo style pulls me in more than anything. Perhaps this is why I have been loving his solo encores the past few years!

So where does my thread title come in? Im just really curious as to why Radio Margaritaville does not seem to broadcast any of these small venue performances/guest spots/etc. any more. The benefit shows (hamptons) and "private" shows from the early 2000s were broadcasted on RM and are frequently discussed on these boards. I would love to have been able hear some of Jimmy's more recent smaller appearances, but it just seems like RM focuses on the big tours. I will admit I have no idea who decides whether or not a show is broadcasted on RM here...just saying that I wish some of the more intimate appearances of recent years are thrown into the broadcast mix. I know many clips are available on YouTube, but, I'd rather be able to hear the full show, clearly;)

For instance, I really wish the tour rehearsal from last week was broadcasted, or the anniversary show(s) from Le Select..Has anyone else on here noticed this/miss this?

For me, it's a couple of reasons why I loved Jimmy's smaller shows so much… and both reasons kind of involve the only thing I don't like about the CRB:

1. There's more banter at solo shows. He doesn't need to worry about leaving a 10+ piece band hanging out in the back hearing stories he's told hundreds of times.

2. The unpredictablity of the setlist. Because he doesn't have a band following his lead, he can go off track all he wants. I think if he toured on his own, the setlist would be drastically different every night. That's not a criticism to his current tour—hell, his current tour is fantastic, playing mostly '70s songs and over 100 songs have made an appearance on the tour. But the difference is, we would definitely see way less structure in the setlist in Jimmy-only-show.

As for the rest of your post, I agree with everything.

Haven't really thought about this but it's an excellent point. Maybe because they don't record them or don't record them to a level of quality that would be required to broadcast.

I'm not sure but I'm sure they'd be very well received.
