Personally I would rather Jimmy release a box set like Springsteen did with 4 cd's worth of unreleased stuff, assuming there's that much to release. I know I would pay lots of money for more tracks from the You had to be There shows as well. I think the biggest problem in all of this is that Jimmy is no longer with MCA, so they are not very interested in his albums.

I'd buy that box set.

I do alot of remastering of older shows. Alot of shows I get in trades certainly need it and I need my Buffett to be pristene. There's alot of great programs out there. I use seperate ones to record and edit. If you love Buffett and are a collector you owe it to yourself to everyone else to make a sloppy show sound better if you're able to. That's just my take on it.

It would be very cool, but "Atlantic City" would be a much better choice of a song to play in Atlantic City, obviously. But I do know Springsteen was in Atlanta recently, supposedly putting the final touches on a new E-Street band album, and I'm not sure that he is done with that yet. But Jimmy did say he had "big things" planned for Atlantic City, so we will see.

Maybe he doesn't want anything remastered because he just doesn't feel like it...Kind of like when thatbiography was written about him years ago, when he said one day he would write about his life, but it just isn't time to look back on things and just work in the present....I could be wrong, but it just seemed like a good idea.

Could be, but I don't Jimmy has much of a say so in it. If MCA owns the masters, and there's no reason to believe they don't, they control what happens. Jimmy could buy them if he wanted to I'm sure, but he's shown no interest in that.

The Buffett Remasters website appears to have gone belly up:

http://www.buffettremasters.com

Anyone know how to get in touch with Parrot Monkey? That is too great of a cause to just let it go like that. Not to mention all the work Parrot Monkey had put into the site. Even if nothing ever becomes of the campaign to have Buffett's albums remastered the site was an invaluable source of information on his discography.

Hey there. I apologize for letting the site go and all and not logging in here for awhile to check my messages. I guess I just felt it was getting nowhere and wasn't really getting much support. It has been like four years plus now I've been on this and a search on Amazon.com or a visit to your local shop that sells CDs will show that the same damn CD releases are avaliable to this day... Certainly not waving a "white flag" by any means but I really don't know what else we can do as "little people" fans.

As for the status of the site, it was really borrowed space as was the domain and if I continue I should probably get my own webspace and make some essential updates to the site before bringing it back up.

Thanks for showing the concern.

-Dan

Thanks for chiming in. I do hope you are able to carry on the site in some form or fashion and it's imperative that you know that there are those of us out there that care very much about the possibility of remasters no matter what the naysayers may say. If you take a look at any of the Deluxe series of CDs out there or the remastering of entire catalogs by different artists you will see that no performer should be considered out of bounds for such treatment, including Jimmy Buffett. Please keep in mind that some of us are still waiting for Neil Young's archival box sets. We're promised every year that that they are coming only to be told they will be coming out next year so please don't give up hope.

As I mentioned your site is also invaluable if only as place to research Buffett's vast discography and I for one appreciate all of the hard work and countless hours you have put into it.
