Very informative and highly entertaining look into the birth of grunge in Seattle and how the press descended upon the area in an unprecedented feeding frenzy that turned everyone's world upside down (and not in a good way). The documentary also does a good job of focusing on many of the bands that were overlooked during the grunge craze such as Tad, the Melvins and the Young Fresh Fellows. For anyone that's interested, Hype! is available for viewing in it's entirety on YouTube:

Saw this Friday. It's good, but not Tim Burton's best work. Eva Green, however, is awesome.

Terrible movie! I can enjoy a RomCom but this was just not funny. Even my wife thought it was terrible. Worst movie we've seen in years.

Snow White and Huntsmen..... Un-fucking-believably well done--the characters in the movie make you so invested. It's a really good movie.

This re-make totally sucked, it can't ever live up to the original.
The music absolutely blew big chunks, and the dialogue was
pretty much the exact same as the original movie. The story got
put into modern times, but it gets no justice what-so-ever.

A major rip-off of the 1984 original, it's just an insult to retro
people everywhere.

Frickin Classic Movie..... I still remember trying to find a friend who had an older brother who had a van when that movie came out so we could go street surfing.


Though today I did watch the movie FLIGHT. OK, I am probably one of the people who hate Denzel the most, only because of the kind of characters he plays... have hated him since Training day. But not a bad movie at all.

Really enjoyed this. It's really trippy too.

Documentary of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters' cross country trip to the World's Fair in 1964 that was compiled from over 30 hours of footage with a few very well done recreations to help string it all together. I haven't read The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test but I do agree with some reviewers that this movie is more of a supplement to that story than the be all and end all of it. Still, I found it very enjoyable to watch actual footage of their journey. Context of the times is provided by archival footage of current events. It's also not all about the trip. The prologue goes more into the acid tests that followed and into Kesey's personal life in Oregon. Definitely a historical document well worth watching especially if you're interested in the time period in which the beatniks and hippiedom intersected.
